This may just be the shortest blog in the history of my blogs. For fear of giving too much away, I want to try to keep tight-lipped on this particular book. Recently, I finished a book that changed my life, changed the way I perceive humanity and the world. The book that I am talking about is “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave. On the back of this book, rather than giving you a juicy tidbit of what to expect, you are given something along the lines of rather than ruin this book, pick it up, read it, and see what happens.
For those of you that know me, you know that I am a crier when it comes to animals. Whether it is a book or a movie, or even a commercial, if there are defenseless animals in it, I become a mess. My mascara runs, my nose turns red, eyes get all puffy, the works. (That last sentence may seem out-of-place, but I promise that it will make sense in a moment. Please bear with me :) That being said, I don’t really cry in books, movies when something awful happens to a person. I can’t explain it, I just feel more for the animals I guess. But this book, man this book made me bawl. I was reduced to a sobbing mess, and there were no animals involved. My thoughts on humanity were radically changed, and I was given a stronger sense of hope, whereas before I had just a sliver of hope for humanity.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It made me change the way I see humanity, and made me strive to help those who need it wherever they may be. Look for this book on the bestsellers shelf at the store. If you have already read this, I would love to hear your opinion. Happy reading!
