		<description><![CDATA[Great post. The way I see it, independent (local) bookstores, in addition to fostering a spirirt of community that they not only represent, but also preserve, are the only brick &amp; mortar venues where a new (unknown) author can get their books displayed and sold.  That same opportunity simply doesn&#039;t exist at the big chain stores where competition from the &#039;big six&#039; publishers squeeze the little guy &amp; gal out.  

Many times, it&#039;s because of the dedicated support that the indies provide that local authors have any chance of leveling the playing field somewhat.  That said, I most definitely support the local bookstores!
